What Is Barıatrıc Surgery?
Bariatric surgery, also known as obesity surgery, is called all surgical methods applied to patients with a body mass index (BMI) above 40 and providing rapid weight loss in a short time. It can also be applied to people whose BMI is between 35-40 (type 2 diabetes, hypertension, etc.).
Gastrıc Sleeve
It is a Laparoscopic bariatric surgery. A large part of the stomach is removed and the remaining part is left in the form of sleeve. Therefore, this procedure is called gastric sleeve. By absorbing approximately 80% of the stomach, the absorption and digestive surface are reduced. Thus, individuals are saturated with 80% less food than normal.
Liquid diet is applied in the first weeks and solid foods are gradually introduced.
Gastrıc By-Pass
Gastric By-pass is also applied by laparoscopic method. In this method, a large part of the stomach is bypassed and disabled. The capacity of such stomach is reduced and patients reach satiety with less nutrients.
Again in the first weeks as in the stomach stomach operation, liquid diet is applied and gradually passed to solid foods.
